HELP ME PLEASE!

Dear Readers,

Okay, I'm not one to take my troubles to the web... but I AM DESPERATE! Calvin has always been an excellent sleeper, but it's been about 3 weeks now and he is just plain REFUSING to sleep at night. He'll go down pretty good around 8 but then wake up screaming at 2ish every night and be in and out of screaming fits for the rest of the night. Ugggg!

So... I am BEGGING any and all of you to give me some tips 'cause I've tried just about EVERYTHING (doctor visits - they say he's fine, crying it out, nursing, holding, co-sleeping, humidifier, heater, night light, singing, teething pills, and on and on...) and I am still a zombie.

Sincerely,
Moping Mommy

Dear Moping Mommy,

It stinks, but sounds like you've tried it all. Sometimes kids just decide it's time to shake things up a bit. Good Luck to you.

Oh man, that is the worst! Slade did that for a little while and I was told he was probably having night terrors. Nothing can be done :(
Sounds like you have tried everything, so I don't know what to tell ya. Hopefully he will snap out of it soon.

PRAY!! When Evelyn wasn't sleeping through the night at 7 months, that was all I could do. The night I finally asked for help, she slept till 7:30. Heaven sent...literally!

Kaiya started doing that, She doesn't really complain when she gets sick, So I took her to the Dr just to see if something was wrong and she had an ear infection. I have also heard that when they are starting to learn something new like crawling they will wake up at night because their minds are so active. Kaiya is back to sleeping through the night. Oh I also started giving her a big bowl of rice cereal or oatmeal. So it would last longer in her stomach right before bed. GOOD LUCK

I'm afraid this will be completely unhelpful, but my suggestion is: Be patient. In my experience, kids tend to grow out of phases that I think are going to kill me.

Hang in there.

Hey Eli did this same thing just recently. At exactly 2 am too. What I do is I let him cry (not long because I am worse) 3 minutes tops. Then I go give him his binky and a soft blacket. Eli loves to rub it on his face. I use the soft blanket so that he can use something else for comfort instead of me. It took 2 nights and now he sleeps through the night. Let me know if you have any question.

Put in some ear-plugs, turn the fan on high, and say "see you in 8 hours".

Sounds cruel, but Cruella Devil is what I AM if I don't get any sleep. He'll live and pass through the phase quickly.

Good luck until then. It's sooo hard, I know.

oh yeah.
And if you still hear him, go get some sleeping pills.

I just discovered them. Awww. Magic.

Oh my son Adrián is 4 years old now and when he was younger he decided to wake up in the middle of the night! I didn't what to do with him and was so worried cause I thought he was afraid of something or sick, but the best advice somebody gave me was: Let him cry, he just think it's fun to wake up and play at night? Then let him deal with it! So I let him cry and it didn't last longer than 2 - 3 nights!
I think it's just a power issue, if you run to him everytime he wants he'll think he can take control of you and your time!

Both of my girls are doing it (colds, and yes ear infections) - I love the mommy club. My favorite book ever: Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child Dr Weisbluth - it means happy mommy. I find if my kids are having a hard time sleeping they are over tired. Try putting him to bed earlier, sounds insane, but it usually works. :o) Good luck.

We had the same problem with voltron for three months she just would not sleep, but for some reason the voice of James Earl jones would put her to sleep, so we made a montage with selected blirps from from his best movies including, field of dreams,Star Wars,Lion KING... she went right to sleep and stayed asleep..or there's the bottle of rum option. hope things get better. love you Amy,
hope this didn't insult you with this message.

Ok so I'm not a mommy yet, but the first thing I would do after crying, praying, and pouting, would be to take him to a myopractor. Mainly because I work for one and know much he helps. Also, because we get tons of mommies that bring their newborns, toddlers, and children. Reasons such as collicy, ear aches, gas, throwing up, and not sleeping. We don't realize it but babies get out of alignment too but can't tell you where or why their hurting. Anyway, this may not even be something your looking for, but let me know if you want more info...and if nothing else babies are free so why not try it out!!
